How Solar Works

It's actually pretty simple! The solar panels harness the sun's energy to create DC electricity which is converted to AC through an inverter. Your home uses the energy first, and any extra energy your panels make get pushed back to your power company to use, and your utility company gives you credit. When the sun goes away, you get to use the credits you made for the utility company. If at the end of the day/month/year, your solar system produces as much energy as you consume, your electric bill could be minimal to nothing at all. Of course, there will still be your standard meter and delivery fee from your power company.
